Moka express

The Bialetti Express is the classic stovetop espresso maker. To produce fine espresso, you only need coffee, water, and a stove. You can take your beverage a step further by steaming some milk and making yourself a latte or flat white.

This moka pot is designed to force water vapor through ground coffee to produce Italian espresso in minutes. With air and coffee oils interacting with this intensity, a velvety crema forms a layer atop the rich espresso.

The Bialetti Expresso comes in eight different sizes to accommodate any family or coffee habit.

The cup sizes are measured in 30 ml espresso cups.

The body is made from aluminum alloy, a food safe and durable material that won’t taint the flavour of your espresso. The handle and knob are built with black acrylic and can be handled when the aluminum is hot.

We suggest sticking to warm water and soap for cleaning, and advise against using steel wool or a dishwasher.

Many around the world still own and use their 80 year old Bialetti Express moka pots. The device is simple and durable enough to continue to be a classic espresso maker.

Make a rich, authentic coffee in just minutes with the Bialetti Moka Express stovetop espresso maker.

The aluminium pot features a distinctive eight-sided shape that allows it to diffuse heat perfectly to enhance the aroma of the coffee.

With a unique safety valve to prevent unwanted accidents, this authentic stovetop allows you to heat your favourite coffee to perfection.

How to use.

Step 1

Pour filtered water into the base of the stovetop so it sits just below the pressure release valve. Super important – do not overfill your stovetop or it can explode!

Step 2

Fill the basket to the top with ground coffee.  Level off the top, so the coffee is even.  Do not tamp the coffee down.

Step 3

Place the filter basket in the bottom chamber, then attach the top section. Make sure this is screwed on firmly.

Step 4

Place your stovetop on a gas or electric stove on a medium heat setting.

Step 5

Remove your stovetop from heat when the top chamber begins to splutter and gurgle, which is a sign that the water in the bottom chamber is running out. Use an oven mitt or tea towel as the Moka Express will be hot.

Step 6

Warm your cups with hot water and pour the coffee straight away.

Tips

Experiment with pouring hot water into the Moka Express to start with, especially if your coffee tastes bitter. This will shorten the brew time. Use hot water.

Vary the heat setting on your stovetop and see the impact this has on your brew, but be careful, as a higher heat is more likely to burn the coffee.
