FAQs

You Asked, We Answered

Should I store my coffee in the fridge/freezer?

We believe that Arise coffee beans are best stored in a sealed bag or container in a dry, cool spot (not the fridge or freezer).  The original package is fine to store the coffee beans, just make sure you push as much air out as possible before resealing.

Can you grind my beans for me?

Yes! when ordering online you can select which grind you require.

How many coffees will I get out of one bag?

It depends on the coffee machine you have, but you can expect approximately
12 cups of coffee from a 250g bag.
25 cups of coffee from a 500g bag.
50 cups from a 1 kg bag.

How much coffee should I order each time?

Optimal purchasing cycle is based upon the consumption rates.
We have customers that buy weekly or fortnightly and others that buy monthly.
Only you can work out the best regime that suits.

How long will the coffee stay fresh for?

The answer to that question really depends upon a lot of factors, along with personal or individual preferences.
We believe once roasted we find that the beans should be used within 4 weeks..  Beyond day 30 is likely to result in a declining level of enjoyment.
Whole beans tend to go stale after about six weeks and this process is quicker for ground coffee.

Is your packaging environmentally friendly?

We are proud to source environmentally friendly materials. Our bags are 100% recyclable, just place our coffee bags with your other soft plastics for recycling.

What are the Tasting Notes?

The taste or tasting notes are what we all came here for.
The unique flavour profile of every coffee is exciting. We want our tasting notes to reflect the coffee but also be inclusive and easy to understand. We are supplied with the sourcing partners cupping and tasting notes. We then taste and describe the flavour profile ourselves, as roasting style has a big impact on the flavours in the cup.

WHAT IS COFFEE CUPPING?

Coffee cupping is how we taste and assess coffee in a professional and structured way.
The point of cupping coffee is to see what the coffee tastes like before you use different brew methods or add milk.
Our simple process involving a bowl, some ground coffee, hot water and a spoon. The simplicity allows us to taste the coffee itself rather than the brew method.

What is Specialty Coffee?

Coffee that scores 80+ out of 100 can be classified as specialty coffee, in line with the Specialty Coffee Association’s guidelines. Scoring is based on the coffee quality, taste, flavor clarity and defects.
