  • Don't Squeeze: When plunging, stop just before you hit the grounds. Squeezing the "cake" at the bottom releases bitter tannins into your clean brew.

  • The "James Hoffmann" Trick: After 4 minutes, stir the top crust and let it sit for another 5 minutes. The sediment will settle, giving you a much cleaner cup.

Step-by-Step Instructions

  • Preheat: Rinse your press with hot water to keep the temperature stable.

  • Add Coffee: Add your coarse grounds to the bottom.

  • Pour: Add all 450g of water. Ensure all grounds are saturated.

  • Steep: Place the lid on (don't plunge yet) and wait 4 minutes.

  • Plunge: Press down slowly and steadily. Serve immediately to prevent over-extraction.
