The Origin Journey

Long before roasting, a coffee’s character begins on the tree. Altitude, rainfall, soil and shade influence how its cherries develop, while the coffee variety brings its own flavour potential.

In cooler, high-altitude regions, cherries often ripen more slowly, helping develop the sweetness and complexity we enjoy in the cup.

Behind every harvest are growers who nurture the trees through the seasons—connecting each coffee to the land and the hands that grew it.

Growing

Once picked, coffee cherries are processed to reveal the beans inside—a step that helps shape their flavour.

Washed coffees have the fruit removed before drying, often producing a clean cup with bright acidity.

Natural coffees dry within the whole cherry, commonly developing fuller sweetness and pronounced fruit notes. Honey processing leaves some of the sticky fruit layer on the bean during drying, often bringing rounded sweetness and texture. Each method reveals a different expression of the coffee’s origin.

Processing 

At Arise, we roast with hot air, keeping the beans moving throughout the roast.

This fluid-bed method allows us to carefully guide each coffee’s development, bringing out the sweetness, aroma and flavours shaped by its origin and processing.

We tailor every roast to the beans in front of us, from delicate floral notes to rich chocolate and caramel.
